Any discussion about it being illegal to drop these boulders compared to the fact that our government sanction legal fishing practices that have destroyed the ecosystems of our oceans for decades is what we should be complaining about. In 10 years when its too late the rest of us may all wake up and realise the impact of this reduction in biodiversity. What the UK government means when it talks about "Marine Protected Areas" is areas protected from external intrusion (i.e. EU Fishing Fleets) and for the exclusive use of UK trawlers. You always have to ask yourself, When I saw this on the news bite yesterday my initial thoughts were oh no what are Greenpeace doing now? Having seen the full article I couldn’t agree more with their actions. Protected areas are protected for a reason. If you think your trawler is above that restriction you need to catch a defence Boulder and suffer the consequences.
